I glanced over various online repro's of Dean Yeagle's art, particularly that featuring his popular character Mandy, trying to decide if any of them were "perfect" in terms of illustrating the image of The Doe-Eyed Innocent, who may or may not be on the verge of a sexual awakening. Here's my selection.
a DIACHRONIC study of the IMAGE of the POWERFUL FEMALE in POPULAR (and maybe other) CULTURES

LILY OF SOME VALLEY
When I was doing my "synchronic survey" of femmes formidables, one thirties femme I didn't get around to was "Shanghai" Lil De Vrille. She was probably named after the "Shanghai Lily" prostitute character Marlene Dietrich played in 1932's SHANGHAI EXPRESS. However, long ago I read Lil's debut in the JUNGLE JIM comic strip and saw that she started as more of a straight-up villainess. But since she was hot, she got to reform and stick around as Jim's girlfriend. At least one original comics story for Standard's JUNGLE JIM comic of the forties still showed that Lil was more than just a girlfriend-- though she only appeared in one issue of that short-lived title.
SHORT SHOTS
First, a girl named Fritzi gets flip-sy. From STARLET O'HARA...
Then, in a mag called IT REALLY HAPPENED, we see real-life pirate women Anne Bonney and Mary Read openly showing their feminine attributes while at sea-- which is probably not a thing that happened, since accounts say they got on board their ships by pretending to be men.
And just to get really weird, from LAFFY DAFFY COMICS, here's a high-kicking girl rodent who calls herself SENORITA JUANITA MCMOUSE, but who-- speaks with a Brooklyn accent...??

HANKY PANKY WITH RANKO
The silly comedy HAJIME NO GAL includes a deeply tanned Japanese girl, Ranko, who likes to keep the male protagonist "off his toes."
BONNIE PRINCESS O'TOOLE
Bonnie O'Toole, debutante turned insurance investigator, enjoyed four adventures in a couple of Fox Features anthology comics before disappearing into obscurity. This page shows she was purely an unschooled brawler.
