TONY BARRETT

Tony (Antoinette) Barrett began appearing in ALL-AMERICAN WESTERN as soon as its title was changed from the old ALL AMERICAN COMICS (former home to the first Green Lantern). Ms. Barrett fought criminals in between running a stage line.

SUE (OF THE ADVENTURES OF BERT AND SUE)

I buzzed through this imitation "Nick and Nora Charles" series from SUPER MYSTERY COMICS, and never noticed if the married detectives of the title shared a last name. As the two characters ran around solving bizarre murder cases, Bert did all the fistfighting while Sue couldn't brawl her way out of a paper bag. Nevertheless, just for effect this splash gives Sue some sort of judo-abilities.

MOITLE VS. MAMIE

PAGAN

The tough girl Pagan debuted in BATMAN #479 (1992) and didn't have but four other stories. Her raison d'etre, that of tracking down and beating up men who misused women, was perhaps a little too limiting to make her popular-- or maybe readers just thought that "Venus-circle" on her mask looked a little foolish.
