SUNSHINE SUPERGIRL

In 1948 Timely (ot Atlas) published three issues of SUN GIRL, a tough girl with a "sunbeam ray" probably modeled on Phantom Lady's black light beam. In these three issues, only once does she suggest super-strength, when she bursts through a heavy wooden door.

Editor Stan Lee also worked in a few appearances of other Marvel heroines, probably to dispose of inventory material. Here's a so-so Miss America page.

Blonde Phantom got two separate backups, the first depicting her rather atypically using one thug as a flail to hit the other, while the other includes a one-shot villain who's probably the first to use the name "The Spoiler."

MOLL RAT

From the sixth and last issue of Fox Feature's WOMEN OUTLAWS (1948), here's a page on the career of made-up lady outlaw Moll Malloy. The art is by Dick Rockwell, nephew of the rather better-known Norman.

Moll got the final cover, too.

NYOKA AND HER KNUCKLES

I posted about NYOKA #70 before, but didn't include the pertinent scenes. Here they are now.

Just to provide the other side of the coin, here she is taking on a bunch of dusky Amazons in NYOKA #47.
